I've
looked at every picture of a 1250 that I could find, and none
of them look like this. I think the railroad must have
customized this unit (unless maybe you know about some special
railroad edition). Under the too-yellow paint, "Union
Pacific Railroad" is still visible. I think the brackets
mounted on the hood are to hold rail flares, and the old windshield
is so baked you can't see through it. The seat looks like
it was lowered. Almost like the old mining tractors with
a 'low Profile'.
The Lady who owned this was mowing her 1+ acre lawn with an
electric lawnmower when I met her. She was dressed in
a heavy black coat with a hood and had a stocking cap on (It
was 65 degree's out). The last time we talked she had
two baseball caps on pointing to each side of her head.
Interesting Character.
Her son in law had the Bolens running in 1993, and had taken
the carburetor off to kit it. He left for the weekend
to go home to Portland. Unfortunately, his wife had his clothes
in a suitcase and he never finished the project.
I think I strip it down and have it sandblasted this summer.
I have the carburetor, so it should be somewhat easy to find
someone to help me to get it to run (I'm not much good on carburetors).
I'm hoping the Hydro tranny is ok too. The rest of it
I think I can struggle through. Let me know if
you've ever seen anything like this.
